The Superior Electoral Court (Tribunal Superior Eleitoral - TSE) was created on February 24, 1932 (Decree No. 21,076/1932) and installed on May 20 of the same year, in the city of Rio de Janeiro, under the name of Superior Court of Electoral Justice. Extinguished in November 1937, it was reestablished by Decree-Law No. 7,586, of May 28, 1945, and reopened on June 1.
As for its first phase, the TSE produced the Archival Fund called the Superior Court of Electoral Justice, composed of the documentation produced on the deadline from 1932 to 1937 - therefore, a closed fund - notably the editions of the Electoral Bulletins.
From 1945 to the present day, the Court produces and accumulates documents in the Superior Electoral Court Fund(Fundo do Tribunal Superior Eleitoral). Currently, the collection of this Fund that is disseminated on this platform consists of the subseries 2000-2.29 Registration of Candidacy – RCand for President and Vice-President of the Federative Republic of Brazil, according to the Plan for Classification, Evaluation and Destination of Information and Documents of the TSE.
The TSE's Archival Funds are part of the Historical Fund of Electoral Justice (Fundo Histórico Arquivístico da Justiça Eleitoral - FHAJE), established by TSE Resolution No. 23,379/2012, which defines in its article 3, paragraph 1:
"The documents declared to be in permanent custody of the Electoral Justice will automatically be part of the Historical Archival Fund of the Electoral Justice and must have custody, custody and special protection according to the guidelines of the managing body."
At the TSE, the unit responsible for the management, treatment, organization, preservation and access to the archival collection is the Archive Section – Searq, which includes the insertion of documents in the Access to Memory (AtoM) tool, in the Court called Democracy Archives – AtoM-TSE.
The AtoM-TSE environment was created to disseminate the Archival Documentary Heritage of the Brazilian Electoral Justice, that is, to make available to researchers and interested persons the data, information and documents that represent the institutional memory of an archival nature, referring to the performance of the Superior Electoral Court since its implementation.
